Inspired by a very old sepia-toned photo in a drawer in a dresser in my room at a retreat center in Saco, Maine about 10 years ago. It was a portrait of an unadorned, plainly beautiful woman with a small, sweet, sad smile. I felt love and compassion for her instantly, and thanked her for sharing the room with me. This is for her.
