We posed the question: "Name a brave action you took that bettered yours or someone else's life?"
13 of our best women friends answered the call and a lyric was written for each of them. Some of them even showed up to do background vocals having never sung before.
We then asked the amazing Jocelyn Mackenzie (Pearl and the Beard) to write a rocking outro and the result is "Who We Are." This is an entirely crowd sourced song and to go along with it, an all public domain sourced music video.

lyrics
Return to the home that feeds our soul
We’ll know who we are
Welcome the knife that could save our life
We’ll know who we are
Insist fires cease, wave a flag in peace
We’ll know who we are
Strengthen our spine, cross the finish line
We’ll know who we are
Release someone’s heart,
when we’ve grown apart
We’ll know who we are
Until that time, we’ll hide behind
the smiles they thought were real
And all the times we say we’re fine
but that’s not how we really feel
Turning words into action, that’s
a way we heal all the times we say
we’re fine but that’s not how we really feel
Refuse, don’t give in to everyone’s whims
We’ll know who we are
Shed the old skin, grow the light from within
We’ll know who we are
Demand a fair raise, a living wage
We’ll know who we are
Set some aside for our neighbors to thrive
We’ll know who we are
Until that time, we’ll hide behind
the smiles they thought were real
And all the times we say we’re fine
but that’s not how we really feel
Turning words into action, that’s a way
we heal all the times we say we’re fine,
but that’s not how we really feel
Put the last drink down on the bar
Ooh ooh Ooh ooh
We’ll know who we are
Forsake a faith to find our own way
Ooh ooh Ooh ooh
We’ll know who we are
Move to a new town, one-way bound
Ooh ooh Ooh ooh
We’ll know who we are
Accept a death, share a final breath
Ooh ooh Ooh ooh
We’ll know who we are
Until that time, we’ll hide behind
the smiles they thought were real
And all the times we say we’re fine
but that’s not how we really feel
Turning words into action, that’s a way through fear
and all the times we say we’re fine,
but that’s not how we really feel
Stand up!
We know we've had enough
We say we're fine but we're extraordinary
Don't hold back!
Cause of what we think we lack
No one’s approval will be necessary
All the times we say we're fine
when we're not fine, we’re saying
We don't really matter
Stand tall!
Be true to who we are and we'll awaken
To our eternal power!
To our internal power!
To our eternal power!
